Citibank, the retail banking division of Citigroup, offers a handful of savings account tiers for customers with different goals. Many of its tiers offer annual percentage yields (APYs) that are lower than what you can find elsewhere.
Its high-yield savings option may be worth looking into, although it has a fairly high minimum opening deposit and the top APY of 3.50% is only a promotional rate. Plus, that rate is only available in select markets. At present, its standard APY doesn't stand up to the best high-yield savings accounts.
Citibank earned an overall Bankrate score of 4.3 out of 5 and a rating of 4.3 out of 5 for savings accounts.
Citibank savings account interest rates
Citibank offers its Citi Savings account, which offers an introductory 3.50% for the first three months, and then 0.91% to 0.98% APY, depending on your balance and relationship tier. A minimum deposit of $25,000 in new to Citibank funds is required to open the account and receive the promotional rate.
Although the account comes with a $4.50 monthly fee, it can be waived by linking a Citibank checking account, maintaining an average monthly balance of at least $500 or by qualifying for a relationship tier, which you can get if you maintain a certain balance for a few months. Additionally, the fee will be waived for new customers for three months.
There are high combined balance requirements to reach and maintain tiers, but you can get marginally better ongoing APYs.

To qualify for a relationship tier, you must maintain the minimum balance for at least three months.
